In addition to providing Second Harvest Food Bank with pet food for distribution, we are now expanding our public food pantry program through pickup and delivery of more than 25,000 pounds of pet food and essential supplies to struggling pet owners during COVID-19.
Traditionally only available to pet owners in New Orleans and Plaquemines Parish, pet parents will now be able to access the food pantry regardless of their parish. To keep pet owners safe and abide by social distancing requirements, all food pantry distributions will be by appointment only.
Pet food and supplies will be available for pickup at our New Orleans Campus at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd in Algiers. Due to limited resources, we are only able to offer delivery of pet food and essential supplies in New Orleans and Plaquemines Parish at this time. Delivery will be prioritized to those pet owners without transportation, in self-quarantine or with mobility issues.
To participate in our food pantry please fill out our online application or call us 504.368.5191. To support the food pantry, donations of unopened pet food can be dropped off at our New Orleans campus at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd. in Algiers from 10 am – 5 pm daily or donated through our Amazon wish list.
Thank you to our community supporters who are making the food pantry possible: The Humane Society of the United States, PetSmart, Hills Pet Nutrition, By Nature, Rescue Bank, Greater Good and the Big Sky Ranch CATNIP Foundation.
