Who We are
The Louisiana SPCA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was created in 1888 to address the mistreatment of horses and mules in New Orleans. More than 130 years later we are the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the state. Our comprehensive programs and services also make us a go to resource for pet parents and animal advocates across the state and the Gulf Coast.
Our mission is to promote, protect and advance the well-being of Louisiana’s companion animals.
Chartered in 1888
