DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCESS

Spay and neuter are same-day surgical procedures. To ensure enough time for surgery and recovery, your pet must be dropped off at 7:30am. Pick up time is 3:45 pm. Upon pick up, you will be given post-op instructions and get answers to any questions you may have.

POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS

Here are a few helpful tips to make sure your pet heals safely. Most animals don’t develop any issues after spay/neuter surgery. However, if you have any concerns or feel something is not right, be sure to contact us immediately to determine if a follow-up visit is needed.

  • No licking! Licking and chewing at the incision can cause an infection.
  • Keep it dry. Water affects surgical glue and opens the incision, causing infection.
  • Check the incision. What you see immediately after surgery is normal. Check twice a day for redness, swelling, or discharge.
  • Separate animals. Keep females away from un-neutered males.
  • Feed a simple diet. Do not give your pet junk food, special treats, table scraps, or milk.
  • Restrict activity. Inside rest gives the tissue time to heal and helps the incision stay closed.
  • No human medication! It is dangerous and can be fatal. You pet will have already received a long-lasting pain medication.

Did you know?

Spaying and neutering pets can actually reduce the risk of certain cancers and health issues. Beyond the obvious benefits of preventing unwanted litters, spaying and neutering can also help reduce behavioral issues, such as aggression, roaming, and marking in some pets. Plus, it contributes to reducing the number of homeless animals in shelters.
