With Doggy Day Out, you can take a shelter dog out on a field trip and give them a stress-free day away from their kennel. Research has shown that even a few hours outside of the shelter environment can help reduce stress levels in dogs. With your help, we can also learn information about your field trip buddy that will help us place them into the perfect forever home!

What are the requirements for Doggy Day Out?
What is provided?
At the time of pick up, participants will be given a backpack with supplies to ensure a successful trip. Supplies include a portable water bowl, car seatbelt, and treats. Dogs will be fully equipped with adventure gear, including a double point leash and harness for increased control, along with an ‘Adopt Me’ vest.

Which dogs are eligible?
We select dogs who are in need of extra enrichment or are a long term resident with us. These dogs usually benefit the most from the program and the extra information helps us market them better to adopters. The majority of these dogs are over 35lbs. When signing up, you will answer a brief questionnaire to help us make the best match.
