Louisiana Animal Control & Laws

It’s important to remember that when you experience an animal issue in your parish you reach out to the appropriate animal control agency.

Did you know that each parish in Louisiana has their own animal control agency and their own animal laws? The parish animal laws are in addition to the state-wide animal laws.

Our New Orleans Humane Law & Rescue team is only able to enforce the animal laws in Orleans Parish. We have a contract with the City of New Orleans to provide animal control services and are only able to enforce the laws as they are written. For cases of animal abuse and neglect, we gather the information pertinent to the case and trust the courts to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
